Good day AGuide2Everything Community!
Introduction
Have you ever found yourself in the position of Sherlock Holmes, trying to determine whether a friend, co-woker, or an absolute stranger is telling the truth?
I have compiled a quick guide for you which touches upon things which are indications that a person is most likely lying. And I say ‘most likely’ as some people may develop these behaviours on the basis of another factor – aside from lying. Or… maybe they are just Professor Moriarty #2… 😉 we’ll never know…
Let’s get to the facts. First, I will provide you with the most common ones which I found on Business Insider. In the end, however, I will add some of my own.
Things which giveaway that someone is lying:
1. Eyes darting back and forth
*peoples eyes usually dart back and forth when they feel uncomfortable (as if it’s a defence mechanism to find an escape out of the situation).
2. Rapid Blinking
*when people are stressed about lying, they will blink much more rapidly than usual 1blink/ 2 seconds rate.
3. Shutting eyes for more than 1 second at a time
*really have no clue how people came to this conclusion but apparently it’s a defence mechanism. “To close eyes to a situation may mean the person doesn’t want to deal with it”.
4. Glancing to the right if a person is right-handed
*Yes lefties, you’re at a huge advantage here 😉
5. Fake smiling, Sweating, Touching Nose/Face
*pretty straightforward…
And here are some of my signs/tips
6. Look at the left side of the person’s face when asking important questions .
*It’s been proven, scientifically, that the left side of our face cannot vary emotions as our right can… it simply cannot lie (more about this in next posts).
7. Unnecessary laughter.
*Laughing quite a bit – moderately is absolutely fine. However if someone laughs constantly, it may mean they may be anxious and are releasing stress this way.
8. Follow you intuition
*in the end, learn to completely trust your intuition/ gut feeling. Even if all points above match the “evil suspect” to whom your talking to (a slight dramatization btw :D), and your intuition says otherwise, please do me a favor and go with your intuition.
It’s one of our evolved senses which science still cannot fully explain. We will definitely make a post about it.
Do you believe in intuition? Do you trust it? Comment down below and say a number between 1-50.
The commenter with the closest number to the one I thought of will choose a topic for our Friday’s post!
Have a great day everyone,
Vasil
With this intelligent tips, I will surely catch a liar soon😀. Yes I trust my gut feeling and it rarely fails me except when I get distracted and confused. So I choose number 7, hope I played the game correctly 😀

I will practise😂so far the only one who still fall for my lies are my daughter…..my mother recognizes when I m living from my tone on the phone, she didn’t even have to look at my face 😱and my husband just pretend to believe me until I break down and confess I had a sneaky cigarette or I run out of petrol again or what I bought him for his birthday despite my attempt to mislead him🤷🏻♀️

Thank you for this bright comment, Ortensia 😀 The same case with my parents and close friends – excellent lie detectors. Detecting just from the tone of voice sounds incredible! 😮 You must probably know a person very well in order to do that!

Great post but some of these tips apply to me even though I might not be telling a lie, I think mine is more to do with nervousness 😂😂

As long as it’s “have you eaten the last of that pizza?!” Instead of “were you present at the time of the murder”, we should be fine 😉

Stop lying! 🤥
Lol… I’m joking. Yes I completely understand you – I may experience some of them from time to time just due to nerves

Looking for a liar? Statistically males are using more lies than females, the difference is around 30 %. Hopefully this is really true, who knows for sure!? Sherlock may be.
